Still Here

I'm still around :)  Been working on a post but it isn't coming out quite right so I've put it on the back burner for a while.  There isn't a whole lot of adoption related stuff going on lately.  Scoot and Beezer invited me to a last minute lunch with them last Sunday but I was doing laundry and couldn't go.  No big deal.  I'll see them again soon most likely.

It is great that I don't have to worry about making sure I see them every time they are available.  Our relationship is so comfortable we all know that we can see each other just by asking when needed, just like any normal friendship or family.

Our family friends who lost their wife/mom recently (see previous post) are doing about as well as can be expected.  Her husband made a comment that he wasn't as prepared for her to go as he thought he was but I'm not surprised.  How do you prepare to lose your wife, lover, best friend?  Her daughters are doing okay.  They started preparing for their mother's death when she originally received the diagnosis three years ago.  That doesn't mean they are doing well, just okay.  I need to give them a call and go to lunch or something.  I feel bad that everyone was at the house and helping out before and right after our friend died and now we are not there as much, at least not physically.  I know there isn't as much of a need but I still feel like we abandoned them a little bit.  They may not feel that way though.  I'll call and see if they want to hang out soon.

School is going well.  I had a rough time with the teacher of my Human Nutrition class but ended up getting a B.  She was a nut job who didn't know what she was doing even though she had been teaching for ten+ years, has her PhD and is an RD.  All of her schooling obviously didn't teach her how to teach :p  She relied on videos and tables and graphs from an old edition of the book to teach her class.  There were several occasions when she made a statement (i.e. saying good cholesterol is fat but bad cholesterol is not) that was a direct contradiction to what the textbook taught.  There were several other things she said or did that made the class near intolerable but I won't get into it since it is over.  Besides, I made many notes on the class evaluation regarding the issues. :)

I'm also in an American Government class and i love it so far.  The teacher is funny and able to deal with problem students (yes, there is a BIG problem student in the class) with class and dignity.  It seems like I will learn a lot more about the subject.  The other class I have is Cultural Anthropology.  It sounds boring but is actually very interesting.  It fits well with my interest in psychology.

Recently I started a new job.  It is at an international executive suites company and I work in one of the DTC centers.  My twin sister has worked for one of the downtown centers for nearly two years and when she mentioned to her boss that I was looking for a job the boss insisted I hand in a resume.  Five (yes, five) interviews later I had a job!  So far it is a good fit for me.  There is the usual adjustment to coworker personalities but other than that I think I am pretty well equipped to do the job well.

Anyway, that is about all that is new right now :)  I'll try to update again soon!
